We’ll kick off this list with the 15.6-inch ASUS ROG GL502VS-DB71, a nice portable and versatile laptop, and with an approachable price-tag, at that.
Granted, some gamers might prefer a 17.3-inch screen (and there is indeed that option), but that would make it all the less portable, so 15.6 is not all that bad.
Besides, it’s much more important for a display to have good res and viewing angles, and the one here definitely fits the bill with 1920 x 1080p and 160 degrees, respectively.
On a similar note, the keyboard barely has any flex, and the travel distance is very forgiving on your fingers. Plus, it’s red backlit, which reportedly stimulates the brain.
The hood of this 4.9-pound pupster hides a powerful 6th gen i7-6700HQ/GTX quad core processor, supported by a discrete NVIDIA GeForce GTXTM 1070 graphics card.
The laptop boots pretty quickly, and all the apps launch in no time – no more endless waiting for Civ V to start or tapping your fingers between turns in Total War.
Here’s the not so good part, though – the GL52VS-DB71 suffers the same problems as pretty much the rest of ASUS range, subpar speakers and touchpad.
The sound is sort of lacking in bass, and even a mediocre headset should improve your experience, especially if you play more FPS games than anything else.
Other than that, the laptop is perfect, and you’ll definitely get smooth performance without any hiccups whatever CPU-heavy task you throw at it.

The GL502VS-DB71 ain’t cheap, but nobody would go so far as to call it expensive. If you factor in the fact it’s fairly lightweight, and that the internal components are nothing to sneeze at, you’ll realize it’s actually pretty good value for money.
2. ASUS ROG Strix GL753VD 17.3″
Admittedly, with its 17.3-inch monitor the Strix is a bit biggish, but still plenty portable, weighing about 6.6 pounds (you can also get it in 15.6-inch flavor, if that floats your boat).
On the flipside, the big screen is ideal for gaming, Netflix and general chill, so that’s nice. You get a nowadays standard 1920 x 1080p resolution and 178-degree viewing angle for a crispy clear experience.
The laptop comes with a good video card- NVIDIA GTX 1050Ti GPU with 4GB GDDR5 , and a a 7th gen Intel Core i7 Dual Core CPU for a smooth rendering, with no fps drop.
The cooling is definitively one of the major selling points this laptop has to offer, and you’d be hard-pressed to tax it enough to feel the heat rising up through the RGB-backlit keyboard.
Speaking of keyboards, this one has a mid-range travel (2.5mm), and it’s a scissor-switch variety (meaning it’s tougher to clean, but the debris will also have a much tougher time getting in between the keys, so it balances out).
The Strix GL753VD does come with Windows 10 pre-installed, though there’s no bloatware to speak of (unless, for some reason, you count the W10 to be it).
In terms of memory, you get 16GB RAM, which is more than enough to handle even the most memory-intensive apps, and 1TB HDD (plenty of space for up to, say 20+ huge games (and we mean huge, think Max Payne 3, Wolfenstein: TNO, GTA V, or Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor).

Moreover, the GL552VW-DH74 features a design that allows for a quick access by simply removing the slide-off panel, which, in turn, allows you to easily upgrade hard and memory.
Although the laptop is pretty much perfect out-of-the box, this lets you think of it as a white canvas simply waiting for you to customize it with some better hardware.
The laptop sports a beautiful metallic finish, and the keyboard is up to scratch, as well. It’s a bit low-profile (about 1.8mm travel distance), so you won’t have to use hardly any force to type.
The Full HD display is crispy clear, with 1920 x 1080p resolution, and a matte anti-glare coating that makes it ideal for use in brightly lit rooms or taking it to the park.

The ASUS ROG G752VS-XB78K is not for the fainthearted, as it does cost a pretty penny.
The heart and soul of this bad boy is its factory overclocked (2.7GHz) 6th gen Intel Skylake Core i7-6820HK CPU, boosted by the 32GB DDR4 RAM (also factory overclocked to 2400MHz, and able to support 64GB). This makes for lots of speed and lots of heat, though the cooling system does a decent job of keeping it under control.
You also get one of the top video cards for laptops -the NVIDIA GeForce GTX-1070 with 8GB of GDDR5 , making this laptop a real beast capable of running games just like a powerful desktop computer. For an even smoother performance and more fps, the computer packs a 512GB SSD, plus a 1TB HDD with a NVMe PCIE controller for increased bandwidth. Is this enough for you?
The unfortunate thing about this laptop, besides the price tag, is that it’s a bit on the heavy side but this is a small sacrifice when looking at this machine’s performance.
On a similar note, the G752VS-XB78K features a surprisingly quality trackpad, given the usual experience with ASUS trackpads. Not that it has much bearing on actual gaming, but it is a nice addition to its versatility and a step in the right direction.

Given that the G752VS-XB78K houses superior components, from its CPU and GPU to memory drive and the amazing 17.3-inch display, it’s small wonder the price-tag feels a bit prohibitive. Still, it’s a worthwhile investment not only for pro-gamers, but also engineering professionals, as well as any recreational gamer with an urge to splurge (and a pocket to foot the bill).

On that same note, the laptop does come with a 1-year accidental damage protection, which is a definitely nice move on the manufacturer’s part.
The trackpad is large and responsive as hell, far from being an afterthought that we’re used to expect from ASUS. Moreover, it has actual, click-y left and right buttons, which should be immensely appreciated by old-school laptop lovers.
Now, despite all this, the G752VY-DH72 still has some issues that must be mentioned, since they seem to be symptomatic of the entire ASUS range – the sound. The sound is definitely lacking in bass, though this can easily be remedied by getting a half-decent headset, . Also, there’s a bit of bloatware (especially the Sonic Suite). It’s nothing you couldn’t take care of in short order, just a minor annoyance (and perhaps a bit subjective).
