If during the process of updating maps or the core system of a TomTom XL, your device got stuck at the logo screen, you can try a rather successful recovery solution, as follows. This method works for most XL, XXL and One navigation systems.
First solution for TomTom XL stuck on boot screen
Step 1 – Connect your TomTom to a computer and backup the map to a local hard drive.
Step 2 – After backing up the map, format the internal TomTom XL memory using FAT file system.
Step 3 – Download TomTom Home software from the official website and install it on your computer.

Step 4 – After successfully installing TomTom Home, run the program and connect TomTom XL to your computer (select computer connection option on your device screen).
Step 5 – TomTom Home will automatically search for and install new system software on your gps device.
Step 6 – Install the new software version for at least one voice model to enable vocal guidance; also make sure to install QuickGps Fix for a better GPS signal lock.
Step 7 – Once the installation is complete, remove TomTom XL from your computer and keep the On/Off switch pressed for 15 seconds; the gadget will restart.
At this point, your gps device should work properly once again, without freezing at the logo screen.
If the above mentioned solution doesn’t succeed, you may try an unofficial fix.
At your own risk follow the steps above ( attention, you may damage file system of your device).
Method 2
Once again, format your gps device using FAT file system. You need an unofficial navcore ( software ) to run on your device( Tomtom One, One XL, XL, XXL, etc ).
Download Navcore Automatic package, containing a set of TomTom software that can run on any device. Standard version for the software is 9.510 – the package comes with an install wizard for all units.

After you’ve finished downloading Navcore Automatic, connect TomTom XL to your computer and proceed to install using the built-in installer.

Pick navcore 9.510 from the left menu; make sure to choose the appropriate version according to the amount of RAM your device has, and then install it to your device internal storage.
Once installation is complete, copy any compatible map into the memory of your gps device.
Restart the device and you are most likely to have restored functionality of your TomTom XL, along with updated maps.
