How to Connect a Smartphone to a Smart TV for Viewing YouTube

Updated February 18, 2020 By Emi Leave a Comment

I will show you how to transfer YouTube content from your phone or tablet on a Smart TV, a simple but useful tutorial, to those who have not yet discovered how to do this thing.

It is understood that in order to do this, you must have a Smart TV connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your smartphone or Android / iOS tablet.

The procedure is pretty simple, as you’ll see in the following description, and it is functional – regardless of the phone/tablet model, or operating system used.

To transfer (cast) the content quickly from your phone to your TV via Wi-Fi, do the following:

Turn on your phone or tablet the YouTube app, and look after the icon that will show you the TV has already been detected (cast icon).

cast youtube from smartphone to smart tv

After you click the icon, wait a few seconds – you will see a message like the one below: (depending on your TV model)

Wait until the connection is successful.

To play content directly on the TV, click on the “Play” icon.

The multimedia content will only play on TV now, and you can close the YouTube app on your phone or tablet, and still use the phone for other activities, or even lock the screen.

The application will run in the background of your phone.
