Samsung 55 inch UN55MU6500 Calibration Settings

Updated July 29, 2018 By Emi Leave a Comment

Samsung MU6500 short review

One of the better entry-level TVs out there, the 55 inch Samsung MU6500 comes with a curved design and high quality imaging in dark environments. Even though all its parts are made from plastic, the TV offers a sturdy structure.

With a 5253:1 native contrast it can display great shades of deep black. On the downside, brightness is not nearly strong enough to counter the effect of sun glare. Samsung MU6500 offers native 4K resolution and 60Hz refresh rate.

Best picture settings for Samsung 55MU6500

The following settings were used to calibrate the MU6500 TV. You should get the same results by porting the settings onto 49” version of this TV.

Turn off “Eco Solution” in order to disable backlight level changing.

Set “Picture Mode” to “Movie” as it will allow the closest calibration to the original manufacturer target.

Keep the screen format to “16:9 Standard” and turn on “Fit to Screen”. The latter generally helps when connecting a computer to the TV.

Set Backlight level according to the light of the room. A starting point value is 5. Set Brightness to 0, Contrast to 95 and Sharpness to 0. Color should be left at 50 and set “Tint” to G50 and R50.

Turn off “Digital Clean View” for when watching high-resolution content. Set Auto Motion Plus Settings to off as well as Contrast Enhancer and HDR+ Mode.

Color settings

Set Color tone to “Warm2”.

Leave Color Space on “Auto” as it will be easier to match it to the type of content currently being streamed to the TV.

HDR via HDMI connection is best viewed with “HMDI UHD Color” turned on and Backlight set to the max value.

Gaming works best with the same settings mentioned above and the “Gaming” option turned on.
