Samsung Q900R QLED TV Best Picture Settings

Updated January 19, 2020 By Emi 1 Comment

The Samsung Q900R is the next 4k smart TV in the Q series lineup. While it is an incredibly powerful model, one must calibrate the settings in order to take full advantage of this additional strength.

The following article details the best way to improve the picture quality over the factory default settings you will get out of the box.

Best Picture Quality for the Samsung Q900R

First, disable all eco solution settings to avoid having the light dim or intensify during the calibration process.

Next, set the Picture mode to “Movie” for anything you will be passively watching such as films, Netflix, or regular TV

Then, set the backlight to 8 and adjust it slightly depending on the brightness of your room.

The brightness setting should be left at 0 unless you prefer a slightly more vibrant look.

A good setting for contrast is 45, and set the sharpen value to 0 to avoid an unnatural looking picture.

The Warm 2 color tone worked best in our room, and setting Color Space to “Auto” will allow the smart TV to adjust to anything you decide to watch.

Gamma can be set to +2 for a smooth result.

Turning off Digital Clear View and Auto Motion Plus provides a better quality picture as well.

Best Game Settings for Samsung Q900R

In the expert settings, scroll over to the external device manager and select the “Game Mode” as the picture mode.

This will make any console or PC games run as smooth as possible.

Also, setting the Motion Game Plus settings will increase smoothness even more. Try setting Judder reduction to 10 and Blur reduction to 0 for 60FPS games.

Set both to 10 if running games at 120FPS or more on your PC.
