Why Sony 55XE8577? This TV set has a good price and super specs, so it’s time to make a small presentation and see whether it is worth buying it.
Sony 55XE8577 is an UHD Android mid-range TV that replaces the old XD series.
Design and connections
Looking at 2016 models we can conclude that design is not so different. Okay, you cannot redesign a Tv every year, but the XE series is almost similar to XD, except maybe the size of the logo and other small details. The TV is quite thin and has a classic design. The table top is made in onepiece and provides very good stability.
Being a premium model, the Sony 55XE8577 is equipped with everything you need: 4 HDMI ports, 3 USB ports, 2 composite inputs, optical audio output as well as a headphone jack.

Image Quality
The most important criteria when choosing a good TV is the image quality. The Sony 55XE8577 stands out when we talk about image quality:
-
- Triluminous display that provides a wide range of colors, which translates in a more natural and enjoyable picture
- 4K HDR X1 processor that permanently works the image to eliminate defects and improve quality
- Very good quality VA panel
- It has 100 Hz Native refresh rate that ensures very good image fluidity on every scene
This TV is focused on image quality. The contrast is very good, the color palette is one of the richest, and the refresh rate is perfect for sports enthusiasts.
There are also some downsides but minor ones:
-
- there is a minor bleeding (areas with uneven light on the dark background) on the edges, but it is noticeable only on very dark scenes
- VA display has poorer viewing angles when comparing it to an IPS display, but this is not a big issue as most of us stand in front of the screen.
Sound
Sound quality on TVs is one of Sony’s strengths. This compared to other manufacturers.
Although there is nothing new as Sony is keeping the same 2 x 10 W speaker system as on the previous TVs, the sound is decent. There are all kinds of technologies that should improve sound quality but they do little to that. Overall – is a TV that has a strong volume and a good sound quality. If you want more, you will also need to purchase a sound-bar or home cinema.
Smart TV
The Sony 55XE8577 comes with Android 7.0. I am not a fan of this operating system because it has not so stable as WebOS or Tizen. You might like it because Android offers all the apps you’ve got used to on your smartphone and the same interface. So, it looks very familiar and that’s all.
Unfortunately, as reported by those who bought this TV, the older issues are present on this tv.
Delays in displaying settings, lag andbrowsing problems. If you’re an Android fan and accept that the system is far from perfect then this TV will be a good choice. For those who want the best Smart TV – look at other models with WebOS or Tizen.
Conclusion
At it’s current price , the Sony 55XE8577 is a best-deal.
We have a premium 4k HDR TV, aTriluminous display, 4K Xtreme Image processor as well as the 100 Hz display.
Android is the only thing that keeps this Tv from being a truly best product. Hopefully, future updates will solve all the software issues.
But weighing the strengths and weaknesses of this 4K HDR TV, the balance clearly indicates that it’s worth buying by those who want a large diagonal TV with a great picture quality and a decent sound.
