Introduction
The X800E model from Sony offers a 4K panel with wide viewing angle and wide color range. Motion is processed quickly and input lag is rather low, making it a good choice for gaming.
On the other hand, the TV has trouble displaying black nuances, making It less suitable for a dark environment.
Although its newer, the X800 feels less premium than its previous version.
Inputs could become difficult to access when against a wall, as they face right out the back of the TV. The border is average-thickness with metallic edges.
Since it works particularly good with games, here are the best settings to employ when gaming in SDR or HDR on the Sony X800 TV.
Best Picture Settings for Sony X800E
Start by turning off Light Sensor, so that the brightness of the TV won’t adjust automatically.
Next, select Game in Picture Mode and turn off Auto Picture Mode.
Set the brightness to minimum (or, if playing in HDR, to maximum) and keep the Color at 50.
Gamma should be kept at 0 while Contrast must be set at 90 and Black Level to 50.
In the Color tab, turn off Adv. Color Temperature and Live Color, then set Hue to 0.
In Clarity, Random Noise Reduction and Digital Noise Reduction will be disabled by default since you’ve selected Game Mode.
The same happens for Motionflow and Conemotion in the Motion tab.
Set the HDMI Signal Format to Enhanced Format if you plan to stream content that will require the full HDMI bandwidth, such as 4k@ 60fps video.
