Free map upgrade for TomTom GO 750
If you are the owner of a TomTom GO 750 navigation system and willing to update the software to use the latest maps, follow the guide below. Please follow the steps below exactly as described in order to gain a successful update. We do not take responsibility for any damage (hardware, software or otherwise) that may appear during the update.
Connect TomTom Go 750 to a computer and wait until it’s recognized as a flash drive. You can check the picture below to see what folders you should find within the navigation system.
Download the latest official TomTom Home software from TomTom website then install it on your computer.
Start TomTom Home app which should automatically detect your GPS device. It will start looking for compatible updates for Go 750. Install the latest software update, usually 9.510.
After successfully installing the latest GPS software, your device will restart and needs to be unplugged then reconnected to a computer. Navigate through TomTom Home software and access Buy Maps to see which maps are compatible with your device. Choose the map you want and make a note of its compatible version.
It is up to you whether you choose to buy on download the map you need, there are various sources available on the internet and all you need to do is do a Google search for them.
Once you’ve acquired a GO 750 compatible map, it’s time to move on. If the latest map is not available, just search for an earlier release that supports unofficial install.
Each year, TomTom releases 4 map updates. To find out what map is compatible you can download and read the compatibility graph and associate software number to the map version that looks to be compatible.
Move the old GO 750 map from the device to your computer. You will find it in a folder named the same as the map. Once moved, check your TomTom device to see if there is enough space for the new map, which will usually be greater in size.
If you can’t free enough space for the new map, go ahead and delete POI, CRPOI, CRSPEECH and CPHONEME folders from your TomTom device to free up some more.
Copy the new map to TomTom.
It’s time to activate the newer map on your TomTom GO 750.
Download FastActivate tool which will prepare your GPS to acquire the newer map. Copy the tool and files you’ve downloaded straight to your device then right-click and run the executable using administrator privileges.
Apply the available options in the following order:
- Choose 9 to update the tool
- Choose 1 to update map codes
- Choose 3 to prepare the software for the new map
- Choose 2 to activate the new map
Once all steps are successfully completed, the following dialog screen should appear: “Complete maps … map name … dct OK.
Disconnect TomTom Go 750 from your computer, reboot the device and the new maps should be available.
